Job openings increased slightly in February, still below pre-recessionary levels but indicating that the labor market could produce more gains down the road. March snowpack fluctuated widely throughout Idaho, breaking moisture records at 25 meteorological monitoring sites from the Big Lost River Basin to the northern Panhandle but leaving the mountains south of the Snake River unseasonably dry. Applications for home mortgages faded last week after as demand for refinancing declined, an industry group said on Wednesday. Numerous economic indicators suggest that the recession should be over: Stock prices are surging, gas prices are rising, unemployment is down, and hiring is up. But we simply will not fully rebound until small businesses recover.
