Durable goods orders rise less than expected in June, unfilled orders increase

  • June Durable Goods: +0.8% vs. % +2.1% expected and +3.2% prior (revised from +2.3%).
  • That figure increased 13 of the last 14 months.
  • Excluding transportation, new orders +0.3% vs. +0.8% expected and +0.5% prior (revised from +0.3%).
  • Excluding defense, new orders rose 1.0% vs. +2.8% prior.
  • Shipments of manufactured durable goods in June, up three of the last four months, increased 1.0% to $250.7B, following a 0.1% increase in May.
  • Unfilled orders increased for five months straight, rising 0.9% during June to $1.22T.
  • Inventories of manufactured durable goods, also rising for five straight months, rose 0.9% to $450.5B.
  • Nondefense new orders for capital goods increased 3.1% to $88.9B
