E-Commerce Sales Continue To Outpace Total Retail Sales Growth

E-commerce sales rose a quarterly 3.1 percent in the third quarter vs 3.6 percent in the second (initially 3.9 percent). Despite the slowing, e-commerce sales are far outpacing total retail sales where the third-quarter gain was 0.9 percent. As a percentage of total retail sales, third-quarter e-commerce rose 2 tenths to 9.8 percent.
