State Street Investor Confidence Index Falls
Global institutional investors became even more risk averse in
September, according to State Street, whose Investor Confidence Index
based on the actual portfolios of their institutional clients fell to
88.3, down 5.7 points from August's revised reading of 94.0 As in the
previous month, when the index fell by an even larger amount, it was
North American investors who led the decline , with the sub-index for
the region falling 7.5 points to 84.5. The sub-index for Asia all fell,
shedding 2.5 points to a neutral 100.0, while the European regional
index managed to buck the trend by rising 1.0 point to 101.0.
