Business Inflation Expectations Move Higher
Inflation expectations among businesses moved higher in September, up 1
notch to 2.2 percent and the highest reading since 2.3 percent in April
this year. Inflation expectations are certain to get even greater
attention after Jerome Powell, in his comments last month at Jackson
Hole, stressed their central importance to monetary policy. Watch later
this on week on Friday for the latest update on consumer inflation
expectations from the University of Michigan and the final consumer
sentiment report for September.
