Consumer Confidence Continues To Show Strength
Consumer confidence readings continue to show unusual strength and
acceleration with the comfort index up nearly 2 points in the October 4
week to 44.8 for the best score in five months. The index is up nearly 5
points since mid-September for the best 3-week run in six years, a run
that belies soft job growth and volatility in the global markets. This
is good news for the economy going into the holiday shopping season.
