Same Store Retail Sales Bounce Back

Core retail sales bounced back in the September 12 week, according to Redbook's same-store sales sample which came in at a year-on-year plus 1.7 percent for a 4 tenths gain from the prior week. Warm weather boosted the week's sales right at the peak of the back-to-school season.

Readings in this report have been subdued compared to actual core sales which in this morning's retail sales report for August extended a run of solid gains. Still, this report does underscore the strength of the retail sales report and hints at further strength for September.
