Small business owners were planning to hire at this time last year, but the majority (80 percent) haven't hired a single employee the first three months of 2012. New single-family home sales dropped in March to their lowest level in four months, but the reading still beat analysts' expectations as the government said sales in prior months were higher than initially thought. First it was people earning at least $1 million a year. Now Democrats seeking their next election-year target for tax increases on better-off Americans may have found it: the owners of many privately held corporations. Orders for long-lasting factory goods fell by the largest amount in three years in March, mostly because demand for commercial aircraft plummeted.
