Same-Store Retail Sales Show Volatility

Weekly data are often subject to volatility which is the story of Redbook's index so far in July, posting an over-sized 6.2 percent rate of year-on-year growth in the prior week offset now by an under-sized 4.7 percent rate in the July 13 week. But together, the results are steady in the mid-5 percent area and are pointing to another month of solid strength for retailers, this time for July. Today's results follow this morning's strong retail sales report for June.
