Advance International Trade in Goods
The international trade deficit was $82.9 billion in October, down $14.1 billion from $97.0 billion in September. Exports of goods for October were $157.4 billion, $15.3 billion more than September exports. Imports of goods for October were $240.3 billion, $1.1 billion more than September imports.
Advance Wholesale Inventories
Wholesale inventories for October, adjusted for seasonal variations and trading day differences, but not for price changes, were estimated at an end-of-month level of $758.5 billion, up 2.2 percent (±0.4 percent) from September 2021, and were up 14.3 percent (±1.2 percent) from October 2020. The August 2021 to September 2021 percentage change was unrevised from the preliminary estimate of up 1.4 percent (±0.5 percent).
Advance Retail Inventories
Retail inventories for October, adjusted for seasonal variations and trading day differences, but not for price changes, were estimated at an end-of-month level of $603.6 billion, up 0.1 percent (±0.2 percent) from September 2021, and were down 0.7 percent (±0.9 percent) from October 2020. The August 2021 to September 2021 percentage change was unrevised from the preliminary estimate of down 0.2 percent (±0.2 percent).
