Week Ahead Watch List

No rate moves are expected from the Bank of Canada on Wednesday nor, and especially so, for the dovish European Central Bank on Thursday. Further tapering is a possibility for the BoC. Inflation data will include Germany's October CPI on Thursday and the Eurozone's October HICP on Friday, with both expected to show tangible pressure. Less pressure is the expectation for the US employment cost index and US PCE price indexes, all on Friday. First estimates for third-quarter GDP will be a special highlight of the week opening on Monday with Korea, where slowing is the call, and followed on Thursday with the US where forecasts, all in the growth column, are nevertheless scattered. German GDP and Eurozone GDP will be highlights for Friday. US consumer confidence isn't expected to improve on Tuesday, nor Germany's Ifo sentiment report on Monday nor GfK on Wednesday. Remaining market movers include US durable goods on Wednesday as well as Japanese industrial production and monthly GDP from Canada, both on Friday.
