Homebuilder confidence rises on strong demand even with supply disruptions

  • October NAHB Housing Market Index: 80 vs. 75 consensus and 76 prior.
  • Present single-family sales: 87 vs. 82.
  • Next 6 months single-family sales: 84 vs. 81  prior.
  • Prospective buyer traffic: 65 vs. 61 prior.
  • By region, the Midwest rose one point to 69, the Northeast held steady at 72, the South and West each remained unchanged at 80 and 83, respectively.
  • "Although demand and home sales remain strong, builders continue to grapple with ongoing supply chain disruptions and labor shortages that are delaying completion times and putting upward pressure on building material  and home prices," said NAHB Chairman Chuck Fowke.
