International trade deficit widens more than expected in June

Advance International Trade in Goods
The international trade deficit was $91.2 billion in June, up $3.0 billion from $88.2 billion in May. Exports of goods for June were $145.5 billion, $0.5 billion more than May exports. Imports of goods for June were $236.7 billion, $3.5 billion more than May imports.


Advance Wholesale Inventories
Wholesale inventories for June, adjusted for seasonal variations and trading day differences, but not for price changes, were estimated at an end-of-month level of $715.0 billion, up 0.8 percent (±0.2 percent) from May 2021, and were up 10.2 percent (±1.4 percent) from June 2020. The April 2021 to May 2021 percentage change was unrevised from the preliminary estimate of up 1.3 percent (±0.2 percent).


Advance Retail Inventories
Retail inventories for June, adjusted for seasonal variations and trading day differences, but not for price changes, were estimated at an end-of-month level of $600.0 billion, up 0.3 percent (±0.2 percent) from May 2021, and were up 3.7 percent (±0.9 percent) from June 2020. The April 2021 to May 2021 percentage change was unrevised from the preliminary estimate of down 0.8 percent (±0.2 percent).
