Chain store sales down 7.5%

U.S. comparable chain store sales fell 7.5% Y/Y for the week ended July 18, per Johnson Redbook.

Month-to-date sales through July 18 fell 6.5%.

"Besides typical back-to-school items, hand sanitizers, masks, hand washers and disinfectant wipes were placed on school supply lists," according to Johnson Redbook.
