Sharp decline in imports help narrow trade deficit

Advance International Trade in Goods
The international trade deficit was $59.9 billion in February, down $6.0 billion from $65.9 billion in
January. Exports of goods for February were $136.5 billion, $0.7 billion more than January exports.
Imports of goods for February were $196.4 billion, $5.3 billion less than January imports.

Advance Wholesale Inventories
Wholesale inventories for February, adjusted for seasonal variations but not for price changes, were
estimated at an end‐of‐month level of $657.3 billion, down 0.5 percent (±0.2 percent) from January 2020, and were down 1.0 percent (±1.1 percent)* from February 2019. The December 2019 to January 2020 percentage change was revised from down 0.4 percent (±0.4 percent)* to down 0.5 percent (±0.5 percent).

Advance Retail Inventories
Retail inventories for February, adjusted for seasonal variations but not for price changes, were estimated at an end‐of‐month level of $657.4 billion, down 0.3 percent (±0.2 percent) from January 2020, and were down 0.6 percent (±0.7 percent)* from February 2019. The December 2019 to January 2020 percentage change was revised from virtually unchanged (±0.2 percent)* to down 0.1 percent (±0.2 percent).
