Chain store sales soar on stockpiling phenomenon

Redbook Johnson reports chain store sales jumped 9.1% for the week ending March 21.

Spending on food and household items caused the huge acceleration during the week to offset weak spending on apparel and luxury.

The question looking ahead is how many of those sales were just pulled forward from down the calendar or will pantries stay stocked.
