A measure of consumer sentiment on the economy rose in January to the
highest level in nine months. The final reading of the consumer
sentiment survey this month was 99.8, up from an initial 99.1. The index
came in at 99.3 in December. The sentiment index is not far from its
recent peak of 101.4 in early 2018. The report is produced by the
University Michigan.
