Retail inventories rose 0.3 percent in October following a revised 0.2
percent build in September. Retail inventories for autos fell 0.1
percent, likely tied to the GM strike. Excluding autos, retail
inventories rose 0.6 percent.
..meanwhile...
Wholesale inventories rose 0.2 percent in October versus a revised 0.7
percent draw in September. The build was centered in nondurable goods
where price effects are often at play and where inventories rose 0.6
percent in the month. Inventories of durables at the wholesale level
fell 0.1 percent.
Higher inventories are a positive for GDP and
the results for October are compounded by a 0.3 percent headline build
for advance retail inventories, data also release this morning.
