Retail Sales Continue To Show Strength

Significant strength is the continuing signal from Redbook's same-store sales sample, at 5.8 percent year-over-year growth in the June 1 week. This rate has been above 5 percent for the past month and compared to April is up 1.4 percent. Redbook is signaling a strong snap back for retail sales in May which in April proved very weak, at a headline 0.2 percent decline for the government's report.
