Planned Layoff Announcements Rise, Still Low
Layoff announcements rose in August but still remain low, at 38,472 in
August vs 27,122 in July. Announcements were centered in industrial
goods followed by consumer products and retail. Though on the high side,
August's results are still consistent with healthy labor conditions.
