Gain In Truck Sales Offset Slight Decline In Car Sales

Flat to slightly higher is the indication for August unit vehicle sales following flat to lower results in June and July. With all the results in excluding GM which is now reporting sales on a quarterly not monthly basis, August's totals are showing a modest gain for trucks offsetting a slight decline for cars. Despite weakness in unit sales, dollar sales to consumers have been giving a marginal lift to retail sales since April.
