Leading Economic Indicators Show Small Gain
Held down by the job components of unemployment claims and the factory
workweek, the index of leading economic indicators came in at what is a
still respectable 0.3 percent gain. This follows unusually strong
increases of 0.7 percent and 0.8 percent over the last 3 reports. Yet,
as the report notes, the slowing in employment signals during March
bears watching.
