Same-Store Retail Sales Up 1% Year-To-Year
Same-store sales were up a full 1.0 percent year-on-year in the October
15 week, doubling the prior week's gain and resuming the sharp
acceleration seen at the start of the month. Month-to-date sales in the
Redbook sample were unchanged versus the previous month, the first time
that this comparison was not negative since the May 28 week.
Year-on-year, monthly same-store sales were up 0.7 percent, up from 0.5
percent last week and the strongest reading since September 3. After
quite solid core retail sales growth seen in last week's report for
September, the Redbook sample is pointing to even more solid growth this
month.
