Same-Store Retail Sales Show Slight Increase Year-To-Year
Same-store sales were up 0.5 percent in the August 6 week compared to
the same week last year, as the Redbook sample continues to plod in its
anemic sub-1 percent year-on-year growth pace. Month-to-date August
sales were also up just 0.5 percent versus August of last year, failing
to keep up with expectations of a slight acceleration from the July
growth rate, which was also 0.5 percent. Versus the prior month,
month-to-date store sales were down 0.2 percent.
