Same-Store Retail Sales Match Slowest Growth Of The Year

Same-store sales in Redbook's sample were up a soft 0.4 percent in the July 16 week compared to the same week a year ago, matching the May 21 week for the slowest growth pace of the year. Month-to-date July sales were up 0.6 percent year-on-year, and down 0.5 percent versus June. Promotional sales are dominating sales activity as retailers mark down spring seasonal stock to make room for early fall merchandise.
