Consumer Comfort Index Stays Steady
Global risks and stock market volatility have policy makers scrambling
but have yet to scramble the consumer who, supported by strength in the
labor market, remains upbeat. The consumer comfort index, like other
readings on confidence, is very steady, at 44.3 for a negligible 2
tenths decline in the February 14 week. This index started out the year
below 44.
