Consumer Comfort Index Slips
The consumer comfort index slipped 4 tenths in the January 31 week to a
still respectable 44.2. This index opened January below 44 so the latest
reading, despite a month of losses in the stock market and growing
questions over the economic outlook, points to consumer resilience.
Other confidence readings have been offering similar readings.
