Same-Store Retail Sales Growth Continues Strong

Redbook's sample continues to report outstandingly strong rates of same-store sales growth, at a year-on-year 6.4 percent in the September 7 week versus 6.5 percent in the prior week. These compare with already very strong same-store sales growth of roughly 5 percent in the prior weeks and hint at unusual strength underway for ex-auto ex-gasoline retail sales. Retail sales for August will be posted on Friday.
