Same-Store Retail Sales Accelerate

Retail sales for Redbook's same-store sales sample accelerated sharply in the August 24 week, to a year-on-year 5.7 percent which is up 8 tenths from the prior week and roughly a percentage point above recent showings. The results underscore the strength of the consumer and point to continuing strength for retail sales and consumer spending.
