Chain store sales perky in front of Hurricane Laura

Chain store sales in the U.S. increased 4.6% for the week ended August 29, according to the latest read from Johnson Redbook.

Month-to-date chain store sales are down 0.3% Y/Y.

Hurricane Laura was a factor during the week as consumers in impacted areas loaded up on supplies in advance of the storm.
