Chain store sales fall 7% during holiday week

Johnson Redbook reports U.S. chain same-store sales decreased 6.9% Y/Y for the week that ended on July 4.

June sales ended up down 6.4% Y/Y.

Retail sales are still being driven by strong growth in the e-commerce channel. That growth is top-heavy, with the top ten e-commerce retail businesses forecast to grow 22% this year to easily outpace the rest.
