October Chicago PMI: 61.1 vs. 58.0 consensus, 62.4 prior.
It's the fourth consecutive month above 50 (i.e. expansion territory).
Among the five main indicators, New Orders was the only category to show a monthly uptick, rising a hair to its highest level since November 2018. Production saw the largest decline, sliding 5.9 points.
Employment is the only major category to record a sub-50 reading. It backtracked in October with firms noting staff reductions as a result of the pandemic.
